Forest Camping, Tangham Campsite is a family run campsite, 2022 is our 41st year! With up to 90 pitches (most with electric hook-up free of charge), we welcome tents, touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans. The site is a level, well drained field surrounded by Rendlesham Forest, in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The forest is a great place for you to enjoy miles of open forest trails, wildlife, nature and vast skies for stargazing.
The forest is a great place for children and families to explore freely for hours or build dens or learn to cycle.
For those looking for something else, we are surrounded by a wide range of villages, towns and activities. Sutton Hoo being the closest attraction with its new viewing tower and setting for The Dig, picturesque Woodbridge with it's famous and rare example of a Tide Mill which still produces flour today. Woodbridge also offers a range of shops and amenities alongside the River Deben. For those looking for beaches, Shingle Street in Hollesley with it's isolated location, Aldeburgh for its famous Fish and Chips and Southwold for its Pier and surfing are a few suggestions. Terms, Conditions & Covid-19 Policy for all guests
We look forward to welcoming guests for the 2022 season, we are accepting bookings online.
Our Terms and Conditions are set out below. This policy may change at any time.
Whilst we will make every effort to reduce risk in order to keep us all safe, everyone has a responsibility to adhere to current Government Guidance. This will ensure we can continue to stay open for the 2022 season.
Please check-in at our reception porch between 2pm and 7pm where we will also be able to offer change for our facilities
The on-site shop will be CLOSED for 2022 so please bring all your essentials
Your booking may need to be cancelled at short notice if any Coronavirus restriction prevents it from taking place
Please do not come if you are experiencing symptoms of Coronavirus, or are required to self isolate
Using our facilities:
As always, we clean our facilities regularly, giving special attention to all touch-points
Facilities will be closed temporarily during cleaning to protect customers and staff
Shower & Toilet facilities are open but we recommend the use of your own facilities where possible
Showers curtains have been removed to reduce transmission; we recommend you store your dry items in a large plastic bag
Children to be accompanied when using the facilities
Disinfecting spray is available in the shower cubicals
Hand sanitiser is available at the reception window and at the water, waste and bin points
We reccomend wearing a mask wearing inside our buildings
Terms and Conditions of Stay
Your stay at Forest Camping is subject to the following terms and conditions:
NO FIRES ALLOWED:
There is always a fire risk in the forest and there are by-laws restricting the
lighting of fires. To protect the forest and for public safety, please observe
Only gas BBQs are permitted when the Met Office Fire Severity Index is high
Contained charcoal or gas barbeque units permitted for cooking only before 10pm. NO wood, cones or other material to be burnt inside or outside units.
Disposable barbecues must be on bricks (we have loan bricks), to avoid burning the grass
Barbeques are to be kept away from trees and bushes and be kept off picnic tables
Do not use barbeques inside tents or gazebos (carbon monoxide poisoning)
Please leave ashes in your barbecue until COLD then place them in a bag before disposal
Barbecues must be extinguished by 10pm
Barbecues after 10pm may be extinguished without warning
Any fires will be extinguished immediately without warning
No "Chinese Lanterns", "Compressed Logs" or "Heat Logs" permitted
Noise & Lights:
We wish to remain in keeping with our forest surroundings
Please respect your fellow campers and those who live in the area by keeping noise to a minimum after 10pm.
Please do not use your radios/audio equipment at any time
We also ask that you do not use bright lights or flashing fairy lights for the comfort of others and to enhance stargazing
Forest Camping is a NO DRONE ZONE
Bring a torch!
Gazebos & Cooking Tents:
We are happy to accommodate small gazebos with permission (please mention when booking).
We do not allow gazebos with sides or marquees.
Do not use electricity inside gazebos for safety reasons.
We will continue to allow visitors if these conditions are followed:
Campers wishing to have day visitors must prearrange and pay £4 for your guest's car
One visitor's car per pitch per day
Visitors must depart from the site by 9pm
We welcome well-behaved dogs
Dogs must be kept on leads
Please clean up after your dog
Dogs are not to be left unattended especially in hot cars, tents or caravans
Bookings and Minimum Stays:
